Hello friends! I recently polled you on my Instagram stories and voted to see my hospital bag packing list. Now, I have never had a baby, or even been admitted to a hospital, but I have read at least 20 articles online, spoke to my hospital & OB about what is necessary to bring along.
I should also mention that I plan on coming back and editing this article with what I actually used, once the baby is here.
MOM:
I am so proud to say that I fit everything for me in this duffle bag. I am perpetual over-packer, and I think I kept this to just the essentials!
Toiletries – all of these items are in travel sizes
• Hair Brush
• Body Wash – I only use castile soap, so this is necessary for my to bring.
• Toothpaste/Toothbrush
• Face Wash
• Face Scrubbie – I use these to wash my face/remove makeup.
• Toner
• Moisturizer
• Eye Balm
• Deodorant
• Dry Shampoo
• Lip Treatment
• Headband – I use this to keep my hair dry when washing my face.
• Makeup Remover Wipes
• Hair Ties
• Razor
• Loofah – I will throw this away before we leave the hospital.
• Every day makeup – I have my simple makeup routine tutorial on my Instagram highlights.
• Hair Towel – Will use to cover my hair if I shower, and do not plan to wash it. I can also use if I do end up washing my hair.
• Wash Cloth – I use these to wash my face. I’m super particular about this and do not want to use the cheap hospital cloths on my face.
Breastfeeding –
• Boppy Pillow
• Nipple Butter
• Silverette Nipple Covers
• HaaKaa Pump
Clothing –
• 2 Nursing Bras
• Undergarments/Socks
• Maternity Leggings
• Cardigan – This is the softest cardigan you will ever wear.
• 2 Button Down Shirts
• Pajamas – I have these in navy blue, I was told to only plan on dark colors for the first few days, post birth.
• Going Home Outfit
Miscellaneous –
• Snacks – Granola bars & Cheeze-Its
• Extra Long Phone Charger
• Birth Plan
• Shower Flip Flops – I would not suggest showering without these in a hospital.
• Reusable Bag – I was told to bring this for all of the extra stuff the hospital will send us home with.
• Airpods
• Thank You Basket – This is a basket I filled with goodies/snacks for our nurses. I will also write a thank you card to send with it to the nurses station.
Extra Bag – I am planning on having an extra bag at my house with some things that a family member can grab for me, if I think I need them once I get to the hospital.
• Shampoo/Conditioner
• Hairdryer
• Blanket
• Pillow
• Elvie Breast Pump
• Slippers
DAD:
• Laptop/Charger – We will use this to conduct business, and watch Netflix, if we have time to waste.
• Magazines
• Jacket/Hoodie
• Change of Clothes
• Going Home Outfit – picked out by yours truly. haha
• Outfit for Pictures – We plan on getting pictures taken in the hospital so I want him to have something nice to put on for that.
BABY:
We have this backpack diaper bag, I packed everything in it and I will re-pack as a diaper bag once we are home.
• Bottle
• Burp Cloth
• 2 Swaddles – We plan on swaddling him in both swaddles for pictures.
• Blanket – Going home in his car seat & possibly some pictures. This blanket is so soft that maybe I’ll use it too.
• Sound Machine – portable, and will stay in our diaper bag/stroller in the future.
• Nail File – I read that sometimes babies come out with claws so having this will take care of that.
• Pacifier with Clip
• 2 Beanies
• Outfit for Pictures
• Going Home Outfit
I hope this is a helpful list, and like I mentioned previously, I will come back and update it with what I ended up using.
Follow me on Instagram for all the birth & baby details as they are unfolding…
xoxo,
Sarah
