Hey friends!
E & I made a promise before we got married to always “date your spouse,” no matter how hectic or crazy our lives will get. We agreed to plan one night (or part of a day) a week for each other. After being together for more than three years we happily mix it up from eating out as our date.
A – Adventure. This can seem vague but E & I love to just get in the car and go. Make this adventure date yours, do what you and your spouse love to do. We usually have a destination in mind (beach, hiking trail, etc.), but the travel on the way there is the best part! We will bring a picnic basket and a bathing suit, prepared for anything.
B – Beach day. We live in the sunshine state with a beach within a hour in all directions of us, we are quite lucky. Beach days are easy and so good for us. I love being able to get some sun, and E can fish.
C – Coffee & pastry morning date. There is a place near us that makes the best croissants you will ever eat. They are only open on Saturday morning so whenever we are not traveling E & I make sure to stop in.
D – Decorate a room in your house. Pick any room you like, put a his & hers spin on it. We have an office that is filled with fishing gear, but the walls are decorated with some of my favorite art that matches the theme. We spruced up this room a month or so after we moved into our house.
E – Eat out. When we eat out we like to find local places.
F – Fishing. E’s favorite date! I like it too. Being on the water can be so relaxing. He catches some fish and I take his picture. Win – Win.
G – Golfing or Putt-Putt. Another favorite of E’s. I really like being outside, and occasionally I will putt on the green. I’m still working on my golf game, so this is a fun way for E to be able to teach me new tricks.
H – Hiking. We love the outdoors! We like to find hiking trails with pretty views. It makes the hike that much better!
I – Ice Skating. I am TERRIBLE at any activity that involves balance but E is there is help me along the way. During the holidays are town has a rink they open up. Only go for the hot chocolate afterwards! Hot chocolate tastes better after being on the ice. So festive.
J – Journal and Writing. E is an exceptional writer, this is fun to see his thoughts on a page. Get creative and write notes for each other to read at a later date.
K – Kayaking or Canoeing. One of our first dates was on a kayak. It was hot, exhausting, and yet so beautiful. Once of my favorites, to this day.
L – Learn Something New. Does your spouse have a hobby that you know nothing about? Perfect time for them to teach you!
M – Massage. We did a couples massage on our honeymoon and it was so relaxing. I am the most ticklish person in the world, but the peace and quiet could not be beat.
N – Netflix & Chill. The most millennial date ever. At home dates can be convenient and free. Make sure to put those phones away, to really enjoy the moment!
O – Outdoor game. Getting competitive while playing tennis or badminton can be good your relationship. Loser picks dinner!
P – Paint date. We love painting with watercolor. We have even made a few pieces for our house. It’s fun to pick a favorite place or an image of a scene from the internet and paint it.
Q – Quiplash. The best game for a group date! You have to have at least three players, but it is so much fun! You can download the app on your apple TV and play with everyone from your cell phone.
R – Riding Horses. Getting me out of my comfort zone is something E is really great at doing. He pushes me and reassures me everything is going to be okay. Horseback riding was the best example of that part of our relationship.
S – Sunset Watching. Perks on Florida living is always having a lake or field to go watch a sunset at.
T – Thrifting. Weekend thrifting and garage-sailing can bring you to some interesting places. You and your spouse could find some things that you had a connection with and you did not even know it. E & I found an old wagon that we both had a story about from our childhood.
U – Upcycle. After your thrifting date take a piece you found a turn it into something new! E & I took an old bedside table and made it into a TV stand when we first moved in our house. We have no furniture and I was so proud of my creation.
V – Volunteer. Dirty hands & full hearts would make for a meaningful date, to me.
W – Winery or Brewery Tour. Another chance to support a local business. Some companies will even drive you on a tour from one to the next.
X – X Marks the Spot Scavenger Hunt. I would search for this kind of game in your area. Some counties have a scavenger already ready to play.
Y – Yoga. We have yet to find a yoga studio we like, but once we do we will definitely start going on yoga dates! We like exercising together, for sure!
Z – Zip Lining. We did this a few years back right after Christmas and it was thrilling. E got to see my scared side! I am terrified of heights, but I did it and would totally do it again.
