Hey friends!
I am so thrilled to share my everyday makeup routine with you, this has been a long time coming. I have been in this routine for about six months and I am so glad I changed up my foundation to this new one! Well, new to me. 🙂
Makeup is F U N, so there are no rules and no right/wrongs. My routine below is best for MY skin & lifestyle. It may not be best for everyone, but I do encourage you to try new products from time to time. I am constantly tweaking my routine, and will update you all on products I try and love!
First, I apply my Coola Dawn Patrol Primer all over my face.
Then, I apply my Younique Eye Primer on my eyelids, as well as my under eye.
I start my foundation base off with this It Cosmetics CC Cream, it provides extra moisture (since I wear a matte foundation, I need the extra moisture to keep my skin from looking flakey,) as well as SPF. This is the main reason I tried this CC Cream, my skincare routine does not include a product with SPF and it is very necessary to have on, daily. I use a DAMP beauty blender to apply this all over my face, including my eyelids.
I wear shade: Light.
I follow with my Etsee Lauder Double Wear. This is the longest lasting foundation I have ever worn. It has AMAZING coverage & has a nice matte finish. The coverage is build-able, so if you like a medium coverage foundation, you could also wear this one.
Note, I make sure to blend both foundations down my neck.
I wear shade: 1W2 SAND. I have light skin and yellow undertones.
I then apply a tiny bit of this Bobbi Brown Corrector. I use my fingers to blend this in to the corners of my eyes. This is best for hiding those dark circles that I sometimes get.
I wear shade: Light Bisque.
I then apply the best concealer to ever exist (Tarte Shape Tape) in upward motions on my under eyes, forehead, top of lip, and chin, with this smaller beauty blender. This smaller sponge, gives more control over the product than the larger one I use for foundation. Believe the hype about this concealer, it has changed my makeup game. It offers full coverage without being creasy or coming off during the day.
Note, a little goes along way.
I wear shade: Fair Neutral.
I then go into powders, as I like a matte finish. This also helps lock your foundations and concealers in place.
I first apply Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder (using my damp beauty blender) to all the areas that I applied concealer. I simply tap in the powder.
I then use my Powder Puff Brush to swirl on Younique’s Translucent Setting Powder. I brush this on all of the places I did not use the Laura Mercier powder. Make sure to brush down your neck as well.
I then take my Younique Beachfront Bronzer and apply this in a “3” motion on the sides on my face. I use this Blush Brush to apply. I also use this Powder/Concealer brush (small end) to contour my nose.
Watch the video below for the explanation of both techniques.
I wear shade: Sunset.
I then apply my blush, Younqiue’s Moodstruck Powder Blush, using a new Blush Brush. I do not use the same brush for my bronzer and blush because this will mix the product, and you do not want that. I apply this to my cheekbones.
I wear shade: Supported. This one is not available anymore, but “Spirited” is very similar.
I then apply the Younique Lumizer to my under eye, and above my cheekbones, with the larger side of the Powder/Concealer Brush. The video below shows this better than I can describe it.
I wear shade: Benevolent.
At this point I usually take my Lip Exfoliator and swipe it on. I will rub my lips together for a few seconds and let this sit until my routine is complete.
I now go onto my eyeshadow. I know most people suggest doing your eyes first because of fallout from the shadow. But this shadow palette that I use does not give me any fallout. Some other palettes do, but I use this one on the daily. So I do not do my eyes first.
I take my Younique Shadow Palette One.
- Swirl “Elated” all over lid, up to brow, using Blending Brush.
- Pat “Brassy” only on the lid, using the Shader end of the Liner/Shader Brush.
- Sweep (in a windshield wiper motion) “Chipper” into your crease (outer edge only) using the Crease Brush. Make sure to not bring your crease shadow any farther than your pupil. This will create a dark/closed effect with your shadow. You do not want that.
- Blend out your crease color, as needed, with “Elated” using the Blending Brush.
I then comb out my lashes & brows using the lash brush from Elf. Best $1 I ever spent.
Next is my FAVORITE part of the whole routine. MASCARA! I have fallen in love with the L’Oreal Primer. It has made my lashes look longer and fuller, plus it makes it easier to remove all of my mascara at night.
I apply all three of my lash products to the top and bottom sides of my lashes. For details on this method, watch the video below. It can seem odd to begin with, but you get used to it, and the results are totally worth the extra time.
Mind you, always finish lifting your top lashes up, and your bottom lashes down. 🙂
My first mascara is best for lengthening and separating your lashes. I apply Younique Moodstruck Epic Mascara on all four sides of my lashes.
I wear shade: Black.
I then go in with L’Oreal Lash Paradise. This is supposed to be a dupe for Better Than Sex Mascara. Personally, it is WAY better. It gives my lashes so much thickness and volume. I was completely against using two mascaras, but this one is magical, and super affordable.
I do have to say, before I used the lash primer, this one was kinda difficult to remove at night. It gave me the black mascara leftovers that no one likes.
I finish off my look by filling in my brows with Younique’s Brow Liner.
I wear shade: Medium.
I also fill in my brows using Benefits Gimme Brow. This stuff is amazing for adding volume if you have thin brows, like me. I also use a shade lighter than my brows to give some definition to them.
I wear shade: One.
I end with Younique’s Behold Setting Spray. If you are applying all of this makeup and not using a setting spray you are wasting products and time. This stuff KEEPS all of my products in place all day long. My skin tends to get oily halfway through the day, and because of this, it does not slide right off. I have tried other brands version of this spray, and this is the best one I have ever tried. Hands Down.
Also, don’t forget to wipe off your lip exfoliator and apply a lippie. I gravitate towards Younique’s Hottie Lip Plumper. I am basically addicted to this stuff and keep one in every wallet, purse, and handbag so I never leave the house without it. It gives your lips a nice plumpness without looking gaudy. It is made with peppermint oil, so it always give off a nice and not overpowering scent.
I know all of this makeup can seem like a lot, and you might be thinking that with all of these products it will look cake-y, but it does not. It all feels light/breathable on my skin, and never looks caked on. I love the flawless/glow-y finish. This can take about 15 minutes (and to me that is a lot of time) but it is completely worth it!
If you try any of these products please share with me using #ForeverVanLandingham.
